TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. You will not ship any items that are illegal to ship from US to Kenya. It’s your prime responsibility to find out the legality of your shipment. Dedsilva transport inc. will not be responsible in any way if your items are seized or confiscated government authorities for any violations of available regulations.
  2. The time it takes Dedsilva transport inc. to ship items from US to Kenya depends on the duration of four main steps of the shipment (I)consolidation on individual customer items to fill a container (II)ocean freight from US to Mombasa(III) customs clearance in Kenya(IV)Distribution to Dedsilva Transport, Inc. offices in Kenya. Neither of those durations is deterministic and cannot be guaranteed. Experience shows that the average total time is around 90 days. While Dedsilva transport, inc. cannot guarantee the delivery time, we promise to do whatever is in our abilities to deliver your items quickly and safely. Once we collect your shipment, we’ll update you of the shipment status from time to time if you provide us with your contact, e-mail address and phone number.
  3. We suggest that you pack your household item like clothes, beddings, dishes, computers, home electronics, etc. in double walled boxes. The double walled boxes are stronger and are heavy duty; you can get the double walled boxes from your local U-Haul store. The U-Haul store in your area have different sizes of double walled boxes.
  4. Do not ship half boxes or leave empty spaces in the box, in the shipping business; one box is frequently stacked upon another. Empty spaces in the box sometime allow the content to move freely causing damage to the item and the package. You also run risk of a heavier box crushing the half-filled box.
  5. When sipping fragile items or breakables, always pack item tight to avoid shifting and make sure pad and cushion the items with clothes, bubble wraps and packing peanuts. The package should be labeled fragile and should not exceed 70 pounds. Poor packaging result to breakage.
  6. Make sure all sides of the boxes are tightly taped. You can put tape all around the box and don’t put your name and address with the tape.
  7. Books are heavy; we kindly suggest that you pack them in small boxes.
  8. Medical equipment, large photocopiers, printing machines and delicate equipment need to be shipped in a wooden crate. Machine i.e., drier, washer, fridge should be well cushioned.
  9. Before any shipment each customer is required to fill in the exporter’s declaration form provided accurate and complete details of the items to be shipped. Dedsilva transport inc. its associates and relevant government authorities reserved the right to open up any items and inspect them to ascertain the accuracy the declaration provided by the customer.
  10. Customers are expected to pay for all applicable charges in advance before the consignment leaves USA. Consignment arriving to a Kenya before full settlement will accrue 20% of the shipping cost. All payments are supposed to be cleared before the consignment leaves USA.
  11. Once consignees are informed of the arrivals of their shipment in Kenya, they should pick them up from Dedsilva’s pickup area within 7 days.
  12. The shipping rates include a limited insurance from total loss $100 per on or during sail time only. The shipping rates DO NOT INCLUDE ANY OTHER TYPE OF INSURANCE. If you need door-to-door insurance of your item please let us know and we will give you a reasonable quote from our insurance associates.
  13. Please ensure the receiver should inspect the goods at the warehouse before signing the acceptance form. Any claim made afterwards will not be reliable to the company.
  14. Heavy machine requiring more man power or forklift the client will cater for the extra cost. NB: kindly note warehousing for the first two weeks is free after arrival, from the third week 10 USD per day will be charged, as for the fourth week 15USD will be charged per day. No shipment will be released prior to the payment of the storage fees that are due. After one month, goods will be disposed to recover storage charges accrued.
  15. All fragile shipments should be well packed on wooden crates or heavy walled boxes and marked. we shall not be liable for any damages due to poor packaging.
